Deirdre Fitch

5/2001

Hi, my name is Deirdre Fitch. I have been married for 22 years and have 2 daughters. Heather is the oldest, soon to be 21, has a CDA and is still living at home. Kristina is a senior at Boca Ciaga High School and plans on attending St. Petersburg Junior College next year. My husband, Chuck, works in Tampa as an Account Manager for a Steel Service Center. He also coaches a junior girl's softball team in Gulfport and attends conformation classes with our youngest sheltie, Alexandria.

I worked for Franklin/Templeton Mutual Funds for almost 10 years. Now, I work from my home, making dog crate mats and other items. I enjoy sewing, embroidery, and watching little league games. I also enjoy working my dogs in obedience.

I have been a member of the Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg for about 10 years and a member of the Tampa Bay Area Shetland Sheepdog Club for a little longer.

I think that it was in 1986 that I got my first sable & white sheltie named Brandy (CD, CGC). My Aunt had a neighbor who had sheltie puppies, and I just had to have one. Brandy was my first obedience dog. She never had a score under 194 ½. Three years later, I got another sheltie, Courtney (CDX, CGC). Courtney was a tri color sheltie. She went to visit Brandy last week across the Rainbow Bridge where they can once again run and play.

We currently have 4 shelties: Freckles (8 yr old Blue Merle, ptd.), her daughter Tatum (CD, CGC), Rapscallion and Alexandria. Rapscallion was a puppy we placed several years ago whose owner couldn't keep her anymore. Alexandria is a tri factored sable & white, who just turned a year old. She will be starting agility soon.

I co-own several other shelties. I put a CD on Rebel who is now 8 yrs old and lives just 2 blocks away from me. He was one of Courtney's babies. Leah lives with a Doctor in Sarasota and has traveled all over the world. Major is Alexandria's littermate and lives with my dad's friend.

To all the new comers: when they first told me you couldn't have just one sheltie, I laughed. Well, I believe them now! LOVE your shelties and they will always LOVE you.
